The Challenge
Founded in 1989, Cre'active Design provides a consultancy service, offering
support at every stage of the design project. There are two main focuses
for its business. One is in product design, where its customers range
from medical instrument manufacturers to hi-fi specialists. The other
is in transportation, where public transit companies from around the
world call on the specialized skills required to deliver a passenger
and driver friendly environment.
Recently Cre'active was contacted
to redesign the London Underground's District Line trains in order to
make them more comfortable, safer and more reliable for the typical
commuter.
The Solution
Cre'active has successfully implemented SolidWorks along with COSMOSWorks
at both its studios for use on the majority of projects and at every
stage of the design process.
"A project of this scale and
complexity posed many difficulties and pitfalls. The use of solid modelling
significantly reduced the risks," said Rod McBrien, one of the
founding partners of Cre'active Design. "It's difficult to put
an exact figure on the impact of SolidWorks at Cre'active, but it's
fair to say that for the District Line project, it meant major time
savings were possible."
